1. Who we are
VUGA is operated by Paultown Ventures Uganda Limited (Kampala, Uganda · P.O. Box 212137 GPO), the data controller for personal data collected through this platform. We process personal data in accordance with the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 of Uganda.
2. Data we collect
Account data: full name, phone number, email address and National Identification Number (NIN) used for identity verification. Driver data: driving permit photo, vehicle photo, facial selfie and vehicle details. Trip data: pick-up and drop-off locations (including GPS pins you drop), travel dates, bookings and ratings. Usage data: device, browser and interaction logs used to keep the platform secure.
3. Why we collect it
We use your data to create and secure your account, verify riders and drivers, match bookings between passengers and drivers, process fares (cash, MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money), show trip locations on maps, and improve the safety and reliability of the platform. We do not sell your personal data.
4. Location data
GPS access is requested only when you choose to use it (for pick-up and drop-off pins). Coordinates you confirm are shared with your matched driver or passengers so the trip can happen. You can always enter locations manually instead.
5. Who we share it with
Your name, rating and trip details are shared with the other party of a confirmed booking. Verification documents (permit, vehicle photo, selfie) are visible only to our review team. We may share data with payment processors (MTN/Airtel) to complete transactions and with Ugandan authorities where the law requires it.
6. Storage & security
Data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest. Verification documents are kept in private storage accessible only to authorised reviewers. We retain account data while your account is active and for up to 24 months afterwards for legal and safety records.
7. Your rights
Under the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 you may request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, or deletion of your account and data (subject to legal retention duties). 8. Changes
We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
