1. About VUGA

VUGA is a peer-to-peer long-distance ride-sharing platform operating in Uganda, owned and operated by Paultown Ventures Uganda Limited (Kampala, Uganda · P.O. Box 212137 GPO). VUGA connects passengers travelling between towns with private drivers who have spare seats. VUGA is a marketplace and technology provider — the transport contract is between the passenger and the driver.

2. Eligibility & accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate personal information, including a valid Ugandan National Identification Number (NIN), to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity on your account. One person may hold only one account.

3. Driver requirements

Drivers must hold a valid Ugandan driving permit, own or be authorised to use the vehicle listed, and submit a driving permit photo, vehicle photo and facial selfie for verification before offering rides. Vehicles must display valid new-format Ugandan number plates and be roadworthy and insured as required by Ugandan law. VUGA may suspend drivers whose average rating falls below 3.0 or who fail verification.

4. Bookings & cancellations

A seat is reserved when a booking is made and confirmed when the driver accepts it. Passengers may cancel a pending or approved booking before the trip date; cancelled seats are released back to the trip. Repeated late cancellations or no-shows may lead to account restrictions. Drivers who cancel confirmed trips repeatedly may be suspended.

5. Fares & payments

Fares are set by drivers per seat. Doorstep pick-up may add a surcharge of 15–25%. Payment is made by cash to the driver, MTN Mobile Money or Airtel Money, as offered on each trip. VUGA charges a service commission on completed trips, disclosed at booking time. VUGA is not responsible for cash disputes between riders and drivers but will assist in mediation.

6. Conduct & safety

Riders and drivers must treat each other with respect. Dangerous driving, harassment, carrying illegal goods, or exceeding the booked seat count is prohibited. Two-way ratings after each completed journey keep the community accountable. VUGA may remove users who endanger the Comfort & Safety of others.

7. Liability

VUGA facilitates connections but does not itself provide transport services. To the extent permitted by Ugandan law, Paultown Ventures Uganda Limited is not liable for accidents, losses or delays occurring during trips arranged through the platform. Drivers are responsible for holding valid insurance for their vehicles and passengers.

8. Changes & contact

We may update these terms from time to time; continued use of VUGA after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. Questions about these terms can be sent to Paultown Ventures Uganda Limited, Kampala, Uganda · P.O. Box 212137 GPO.
